YELLOWBAT

Privacy

Last updated 2026

The short version. YellowBat collects what it needs to run a backyard ball league and nothing else. There are no advertising networks and no third parties buying your data. We do not sell anything about you. A league is a public thing, though, so most of what you post is meant to be read by anyone — and you can delete your account inside the app whenever you want.

Who we are

YellowBat is created and operated by CABLN Group LLC, a Connecticut limited liability company. In this policy, "we", "us" and "YellowBat" mean CABLN Group LLC. We are the party responsible for the personal information described here, and you can reach us any time at hello@yellowbat.app.

This policy covers the YellowBat mobile app and this website. Your use of YellowBat is also governed by our Terms of Use.

What we collect

We do not collect advertising identifiers, we do not track you across other apps or websites, and we do not buy information about you from anyone.

Analytics and tracking

As of the date at the top of this page, YellowBat contains no analytics SDK, no crash-reporting SDK, no advertising SDK and no third-party tracking of any kind. Nothing measures how you move around the app.

If that ever changes — a crash reporter, product analytics, push notifications — we will name the provider in the table below and update the date above before the change ships, and we will say so in the app. This section is meant to be checked against the app, not trusted on faith.

What you give us about other people

Some of what you enter is about someone else — a guest in a backyard box score, a player you add to a roster, a name in a lineup. When you enter information about another person, you are telling us you are entitled to, and that you have whatever permission that person, or their parent or guardian, would reasonably expect you to have. If someone tells us they do not want to appear, write to us and we will take them out.

Location, in detail

The app asks for location for exactly one feature: Near You, which lists competitions close to you. Four questions, four answers:

What is collected Approximate coordinates — a rough position, not a precise fix, not an address, and not a movement history. We ask iOS for reduced accuracy where the platform offers it.
When it is accessed Only while you have the Explore tab open, Near You granted, and Settings → Privacy → Use my location switched on — turning that off stops us asking your device at all. Never in the background, never while the app is closed, and never on a schedule.
What we do with it It is sent to our server in the request, used to sort competitions by distance, and returned in the list. That is the whole lifecycle.
Whether it is stored No. It is not written to the database, not logged against your account, and not retained after the request completes. It is never attached to your profile or shared with anyone.

Decline, and the section simply does not appear — everything else works exactly the same, and we do not ask again. You can withdraw permission at any time in your device settings.

Separately, when you create a competition the app converts the venue name you typed into coordinates on your device, so the competition can appear in other people's Near You. Those coordinates belong to the venue, not to you.

What is public

A league is a public thing, and the app is built that way on purpose. Competitions, teams, rosters, schedules, scores, standings, player pages and comments are readable by anyone, including people without an account. Assume anything you post is visible, and that other people may screenshot, share or republish it somewhere we do not control.

Two things are deliberately not public: your availability (who is turning up on Saturday is visible only to the two rosters and competition staff) and your block list, which only you can see.

Your email address is never shown publicly. It is used to sign you in and to send the account mail described below.

How we use it

We do not use your information to advertise to you, and we do not make automated decisions about you that produce legal effects.

Who processes it for us

These are every third party that touches YellowBat data today. Each is bound to use it only to provide their service to us. When this list changes, this page changes with it.

ProviderWhat they doWhere
Supabase Database, authentication, file storage, realtime, and the transactional email that confirms an address or resets a password United States
Expo Builds the app and delivers app updates to your device United States
Apple Distributes the app through the App Store United States

Access to our database is constrained row by row, so the app can only read what the rules allow it to read. Servers are in the United States; if you use YellowBat from outside the US, your information is processed here.

We use reasonable safeguards, but no app, database or transmission is perfectly secure, and we cannot guarantee that an unauthorised person will never get access to something. Choose a password you do not use anywhere else.

Who else sees it

Nobody buys it, and there are no advertising or data-broker relationships. Beyond what is public in the app and the providers listed above, information leaves us in two situations: when the law requires it, or when we believe in good faith that disclosure is necessary to protect someone's safety or our legal rights; and if YellowBat is ever sold or transferred to another owner, in which case the data goes with it and this policy continues to apply until it is replaced.

Children and teenagers

This is two different questions, and the app treats them differently.

Accounts

Nobody under 13 may have a YellowBat account. We do not knowingly collect personal information from a child under 13, and we are not directed at children under 13. If we learn an account belongs to someone under 13, we delete the account and its personal details. If you believe a child under 13 has created one, email us and we will remove it, usually the same day.

If you are 13 to 17, use YellowBat only with a parent or guardian's permission, and understand that your name, photo and statistics are part of a public competition record.

Appearing in a game record without an account

A child can appear in a roster, a lineup or a backyard box score because a parent, coach or organiser entered them. That is a name and a set of game statistics entered by an adult — not an account, not an email address, not a login, and no information is collected from the child.

The adult who enters a child is responsible for having the right to do so. A parent or guardian can email us to see what is recorded about their child, correct it, or have it removed, and we will act without requiring an account.

Where someone is known to be under 18

Connecticut and several other states give minors extra protection, and we apply it to everyone rather than by address. For any user we know to be under 18, we do not sell personal information, do not use it for targeted advertising or profiling, and do not collect precise geolocation. We run no advertising at all, so the first two are structural rather than a promise to keep.

Deleting your account

You can delete your account inside the app: Profile → Settings → Delete account. No email required and nobody has to approve it. You can also write to us if you would rather.

Here is exactly what happens to each thing:

WhatOn deletion
Profile Deleted. Name, username, bio and email address are removed, and the login is destroyed.
Profile photo Deleted from storage.
Comments and reactions Deleted. Replies written by other people stay, with your comment shown as removed so the thread still reads.
Follows, blocks, availability Deleted.
Game records and statistics Kept, and no longer identified by your profile. They stay because a score, a standing and a box score are a shared public record of a competition other people played in — removing one participant's rows would misstate everyone else's season. Your line survives as a participant in that game, not as a person with an account.
Team crests and competition badges you uploaded Kept, because they belong to the team or competition rather than to you. A manager can replace one at any time, and we will remove one on request from whoever the team or competition belongs to.
Teams and competitions you ran They continue without you. Transfer them to another commissioner or manager before deleting, or tell us and we will help find a hand-off.
Support email Kept for up to two years as a record of what was asked, then deleted.

Deletion is immediate and cannot be undone. Backups roll off within 30 days. If you would rather your game history disappear as well, say so in an email and we will discuss what can be removed without breaking somebody else's season.

Your other choices

Your rights

Depending on where you live — including Connecticut and several other US states — you may have the right to ask what personal information we hold about you, to get a copy of it, to correct it, to delete it, and to appeal if we turn a request down. We honour these requests for everyone rather than checking your address first. You can exercise two of them without asking us at all: Settings → Request my data produces a complete copy immediately, and Settings → Delete account deletes the account there and then. For anything else, email hello@yellowbat.app and we will respond within the time the applicable law allows, usually much sooner. We may need to confirm you are who you say you are before we act. A parent or guardian may make a request on behalf of their child.

We do not sell personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioural advertising, so there is nothing to opt out of on that front.

Links out

Organisers can attach YouTube, Instagram or stream links to a competition, team or game, and those open outside YellowBat. What those services do with your visit is governed by their policies, not this one.

Changes

If this policy changes we will update the date at the top, and if the change is a significant one we will say so in the app. Continuing to use YellowBat after a change means the updated policy applies to you.
