Community Guidelines

The short version. YellowBat is for backyard ball. Most of the people reading what you post are in your league, some of them are children, and all of them can see your name next to it. Play hard, argue about the call, and leave it at that.

What we expect

Be recognisable. Use your real name or the name your league knows you by. Impersonating another player, team or organiser is not allowed.
Keep it about the game. Banter is part of the game. Abuse is not, and the line is whether you would say it to somebody on the field afterwards.
Score honestly. Submitting results you know to be wrong, or confirming a score you know did not happen, undermines every table the competition produces.
Respect younger players. Families play this sport. Treat every box score as something a fourteen-year-old and their parent will read.

What is not allowed

Harassment, threats, or targeting somebody over race, religion, sex, gender, disability, or any part of who they are.
Sexual content, and any sexualisation of a minor whatsoever.
Content promoting violence, self-harm, or illegal activity.
Posting somebody else's personal information — an address, a phone number, a workplace.
Spam, scams, or using a competition page to advertise.
Deliberately falsifying scores, statistics or competition records.

Reporting

Every comment has a report control, and every account can be blocked. Reporting from the comment itself is best, because it gives us the thread it sat in — context decides most of these cases. Blocking hides that person's comments from you and stops them notifying you, and only you can see your block list.

Team managers can remove comments on their team, and commissioners can remove them in their competition. That is deliberate: the person who runs the league usually knows what happened better than we do.

What happens next

We read reports and act on them. Depending on what we find we may remove the content, remove the account's ability to comment, or remove the account entirely. Serious cases — anything involving a child, a credible threat, or illegal activity — go to the appropriate authorities, and we do not wait for a pattern before acting on them.

Competition records

A result that is wrong is a moderation matter for the competition rather than for us: a commissioner is the only role that can correct a score once it is final, and that is the fastest route. Report it to us if the competition will not fix it, or if you think a record is being falsified deliberately.
